Great Grandpa Henry Hotze's Clock - 1875

Dad writes on a recipe card the following: This clock was bought by my Grandfather Henry Hotze approximately 1875. Albert Hotze (my uncle) had it at the Hotze factory - 4th & St. Charles St. -St. Louis, Mo. He took the striking gears out but was unable to make it run. I have had it running for several years.

I grew up with this clock on the mantle piece at 3941 Castleman Ave. in St. Louis. circa 1903 to 1910

At the settling of Mom & Dad's furnishings on St.George Pl., the brothers and Pauline had a drawing for some of the Hotze heirlooms and I wound up with this clock and a iron Hot-Z logo that use to hang above the fireplace at 144 St. George Place. jkh
